"The Penedès D.O. (Denomination of Origin) is the largest production area in Catalonia. It emphasizes the production of white wines, light and aromatic, elaborated with the traditional varieties of xarel·lo, macabeu and parellada. Most of them are used for the production of cava. Recently the Chardonnay and the subirat parent have been incorporated".
