Launch of a New Service in Barcelona
Barcelona has bounced back into cruising hard! 2022 has been an ambitious year for Barcelona Cruise Port with passenger numbers growing throughout the year. Fueled with ambition, Barcelona took on a new challenge by getting involved in Port Agency and Ground Handling services.
This is the first year that Global Ports Holding has launched itself as Ground Handlers for a cruise line, with Barcelona Cruise Port as their pilot port for the new service.
In close collaboration with Barcelona Cruise Port, GPH has been operating Virgin Voyages’ newest ship, the Valiant Lady. Since the beginning of May, the Valiant Lady has been using the Terminal South at the World Trade Centre in Barcelona as their turnaround port every Sunday.
After a successful launch on May 14th, Barcelona showed quick success in assisting Virgin Voyages’ turnaround operations with over 2,000 passengers. This achievement did not go unnoticed as GPH was invited to Cannes by Virgin Voyages to help run a key operation in a destination outside the GPH Network.
Now, as summer ends and the ships take their leave, we can reflect on Barcelona Cruise Port and the determination shown this season. Not just by succeeding in providing the same level of assured services, but also in excelling in the field of new endeavors as well. The collaboration of work between Global Ports Holding and Barcelona Cruise Port shows an immensely promising year to come for Barcelona with their added quality of services to their dossier.
